Test-Driven Development (TDD) is the powerful combination of two techniques: test-first programming, in which the programmer writes automated tests in advance of implementation, and incremental design, in which the programmer continually improves the design of the software to match the actual requirements. TDD promises higher productivity by eliminating nearly all post-development debugging, reduced integration risk and effort by collecting and running an extensive suite of automated tests, and improved design by investing in design just before and just after implementation. This two-day hands-on workshop covers test-first programming and refactoring in depth, working on realistic sample programs. Attendees should be able to program in Java. Familiarity with testing and testing tools is not necessary.
